August 2015 - Welcome Back!
Welcome back! Hopefully everyone's summer was restful and enjoyable. We have worked hard over the summer to have everything ready for this new school year. We want all the students to grow academically and spiritually during the year 2015-2016.
The faculty, staff, Father Joe and I ask for your continued support as we fulfill our school mission of educating your "precious" children.
I would like to send you some information that will make the transition from summer days to school days much easier.
First Day of School
School will begin on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 for students in grades one through eight. Students in grades 1-8 are expected to be in the gym and in line with their class by 8:00AM, when the bell rings. We do not want our students to miss the morning assembly; this is our time to pray together, to get a good thought for the day, and to hear the daily announcements. Give your children the gift of a great start; BE ON TIME. A child will be marked "tardy" if he / she enter the building after 8:00AM.
Dismissal will be at 12 noon for all students. There is no ASC on that day.
Children in grades 1 and 2 will be dismissed from the side door closest to the cafeteria(Boiler Room).
Children from grades 3-8 will be dismissed from the parking lot.
On September 10, we will have classes for grades I-S. The students will enter the school through the backdoor of the parking lot and report to the gym. Dismissal will be at 12 noon.
We will also have an orientation for Kinder, PK4 and PK3. Parents are invited to come in with their children through the main entrance. to visit the classes and to meet the teachers and the aides. (This is the only orientation day for kinder. PK3 & PK4 parents can choose either Se~tember 10 or September 11. The children may come in their own clothes. You may also drop off their school supplies during orientation.
On September 11, we will have classes for grades K-8 with a 12 noon dismissal. Kinder students will enter the building from the backdoor of the parking lot and report directly to the kinder room. They will be dismissed at 12 noon from the backdoor of the computer room.
Again on the 11th we will have an. orientation session for parents and students of PK4 and PK3. Parents and students do not need to attend the 2 days of orientation. Choose to visit either on the 10th or the 11th.
Note that we will have before school care starting at 7:00AM on September 9-10-11.
Finally on Sgtember 14 we will be in full swing with classes for PK3-S. We will run a regular schedule from 8:00-3:00 with before school care, lunch and after school care.
Cafeteria service will start on Monday, September 14. Children who wish to purchase lunch MUST do so in the morning. Children will not be allowed to "charge" lunch or snacks except in case of emergency. A child who needs to "charge" a day's lunch must sign the book in the cafeteria. Parents MAY NOT drop off lunch on a regular basis during the school day.
All students, PK3 through 8, must be in complete uniform on the first day of school. Children wearing the school's official summer uniform may wear white sneakers; children wearing the traditional uniform must be in uniform shoes. The uniform is available at Co-Ed uniform company.
The Co-Ed company will be at STS on September 29 at lO:30AM for exchanges.
Students who attended mandatory summer school MUST bring in a summer school report indicating satisfactory work, or they will NOT be promoted to the next grade.
After School Care
If you have not already signed up and wish to avail yourself of this opportunity, please do so on the first day of school. Forms are available in the office. Please realize that a child who arrives before 7:45AM or who leaves after 3:00PM, will be sent to our Morning or After Care program and parents will be billed accordingly. After care will begin on Monday, September 14 while Morning Care will begin on September 9.
All items purchased through the school will be given to the students on September 14.
Do not buy binders or ·trapper keepers· for your children, since we do not have the space to keep them. Please avoid purchasing something that your child will not be allowed to usel All children, grades 1-8 will receive homework planners. Your child must have this plan book at all times. Please do not purchase any other type of planner for your child. Rolling backpacks are allowed, but they are not encouraged for younger grades.
All students should come to school having completed their summer reading assignments. Teachers will assess students on these readings during the first weeks of school.
The first two tuition payments must be paid before you receive your Admit card. Any family who pays in full by October 15th will receive a $50.00 reduction for each child.
Back to School Night
This year's Back to School Night will be on Wednesday, September 16 at 7:00PM. Please join us and meet your children's teachers.
