Dear STS Parents in Grades 5-8,
Thank you for responding so quickly to last week’s survey regarding the possibility of Winter CYO Sports beginning in December. Amongst all the other local schools, you parents gave us here at STS a very significant response, both yah and neh, and in speaking with some of you, there was great thought given to your responses. For that, I am most grateful. And I am also grateful for the input and support of our pastor, Fr. Giovanni. Once again, I say “we’re in this together”, and that’s what makes STS such a special place for all of us and for our children.
Unfortunately, looking at the situations and input from all the entities in our Archdiocese; knowing that many gyms have been retrofitted to house classrooms or additional cafeteria space; and always keeping the safety and well-being of all our children in mind, we received this communication from the Archdiocesan CYO Office yesterday afternoon:
…we had to make the difficult decision to cancel the Winter CYO Basketball season.
Clinics and intramurals are also prohibited until further notice.
We must keep all our children in our Schools/Parishes as safe as possible.
So, there you have it. I am sad that this decision needed to be made, but I will not say I disagree with it. We have come so far, and suffered (I’m not using that word lightly) so much… I just pray and hope that we can all stay safe and healthy for the duration so that someday soon, life can go back to normal.
And then… we’re going to have one GREAT basketball and volleyball seasons!
Any questions, comments, or concerns, please feel free to contact me at (908)276-7220 or at louann.fantauzza@mysts.org.
God bless!
